Gaming facilities across Atlantic City fell slightly short of their revenue projection in the month of April.
While $190 million is not a bad number, the collection was small by nearly 3.6% down from $198 million the same gaming floors achieved in 2016.
According to DGE, the 7 casinos’ revenue collection was not as pleasing as what was collected the same months last year.
On contrast, online casinos are doing fine.
Those who support the collection say that the numbers are down because of the closure of Trump Taj Mahal casino, which shuttered in August.
Perhaps, what motivates operators and various gaming stakeholders is that 5 of the 7 gaming facilities raised their respective revenue collections in the month of April.
The 5 facilities that recorded an increase in their April collections are Caesars, Borgata, Resorts, Golden Nugget, and Tropicana. In aggregate, the five gaming services recorded a revenue rise of more than 4%.
On the other hand, Bally and Harrah’s casinos recorded a decrease in their business thus lowering the aggregate April revenue collection.
Although the collection was not anywhere close to what the biggest winner achieved in April 2016, which remains to be Borgata, it realized $58.5 million.
DGE says revenue collection from this casino that is in Marina District comprises 31% of all the gaming revenue in Atlantic City.
Tropicana, Casino, which seems to be the beneficially following the closure of the recently sold Trump Taj Mahal came at a distant second position with $28.3 million.
Tropicana recorded a new increase record on its brick & mortar sector by hitting over 24%.
Online Gaming Revenue Goes High
As land-based revenue declined in the month of April, there was an impressive revenue record in online casinos.
DGE confirmed that were it not for the $20.8 million revenue collection from online gaming casinos, revenue collections in Atlantic City would fall far below the set projections.
Golden Nugget’s online casino establish the pace with a revenue collection of $5.3 million. The collection is a 63% year over year increment.
Other online casinos that performed well after Golden Nugget were Tropicana, which had a collection of $3.9 million, Caesars Interactive online casino that garnered $3.5 million, an 11% increment.
Resorts Digital casino was third with a revenue collection of $3.7 million, which is an 8.5% increase, Borgata, which moved up 6%, came second with a revenue collection of $4.2 million.
Of all online gambling sports, online poker continues to record extremely low revenue collections.
By collecting only $1.9 million, it was a more than 24% decrease in the collection compared to what the sector recorded in 2016.
