Casinos in Pennsylvania will soon expand. After all, this is after the mayor and the Reading City Council agreeing to casino expansion. The mayor is the first to agree. The council in Reading City gives in by voting 6-0 to accept the proposal. If this goes through, it means the PGC should approve the project. A new satellite casino will come soon.
When Will Reading City In Pennsylvania Have Satellite Casinos?
Wally Scott is the many who speaks his mind. Recently, he says in a TV interview that he is passionate about supporting a satellite casino in his town. The mayor is not alone in the fight of bringing casino gaming in Reading. Councilmen Jeffrey Waltman and John Slifko are among the six others who say yes!
After the vote, Jeffrey says that he has a feeling that finally, the casino will come. “We’re in full support of this. The message is simple. Take a very close look at us; we are here to give our total support to the project,” Waltman says. It is not easy. For a long time, the city mayor and other supporters are talking. It is until October when Tom Wolf, the Governor accepts the plea.
New Law Means New Rules
But even before governor’s acceptance, the bid receives support. Many members of the General Assembly support the motion. The General Assembly has many Republican members. Reading City is not the only one to benefit. The new law supports the giving of up to 10 casino licenses. Most importantly, this means there will be ten casinos throughout the state. Also, this will increase the number of casinos in Pennsylvania.
There is a condition that new establishments must follow. Any new casino will be over 25 miles away from the nearest facility. Operators have the freedom to put many slot machines.
For a new gaming facility, there will be the following 300-750 slot machines. The maximum number of table games will be 30. Any violation of the above rules will disqualify the investor. The license will go to another investor.. Current casino operators are eligible for submitting bids. They have until latest January 2018 to submit bids. Municipalities who do not wish to have casinos have until December 31, 2017, to opt out.
Reading Is Ready For Online Casinos in Pennsylvania
There is no resistance in Reading City. Right from the City Mayor to other members, they are ready. They all need their city to attract gamblers. Opinion makers in the city believe the construction of a casino will help boost the economy. The city will have revenue. The city is ready to deal with any negative effects. According to Councilwoman Marcia G. Hinnershitz, the state has set aside enough money.
