As the real money casino industry continues to expand, safer gambling practices remain a top priority. Regulated markets all around the world continue to add resources to promote responsible gambling. A few individual operators have stepped up their efforts as well.
SkillOnNet is a very successful gaming operator in the regulated online casino market. It has recently launched a new machine to aid in the development of Safer Gambling practices. Interestingly, the operator has joined forces with data science specialists Neccton.
How Does The Swedish Casino’s Safer Gambling Tool Work?
The purpose of this new tool known as Mentor is to collect data to detect risk patterns. Targeting player practices, it is also aimed at noting changes in behavior to help flag potential problems. Players that are deemed to be at risk will be given personal feedback. They will also receive communications tailored to prevent any future issues.
Neccton employed the help of behavioral scientists and psychologists to create Mentor. One of the main objectives is to detect risk patterns in gambling activity. This includes any escalation in behavior that would also increase risk. Signs of problem gambling are then flagged ahead of any personal intervention.
Part of the communication that is sent to players is based on “motivational interviewing.” This takes a counseling approach to interpersonal contact. This was developed by clinical psychologists William R. Miller and Stephen Rollnick. The primary technique employed is nudges to prompt changes in behavior.
Current plans call for a rollout across the following highly popular SkillOnNet brands:
- Lucky Vegas
- Royal Bet
Other brands will be added to the list including PlayOJO and AHTI Games. Andy Andrew is the Head of Compliance at SkillOnNet. He offered the following insight:
“We are thrilled to have joined forces with Neccton. Bringing its state-of-the-art machine learning Safer Gambling tool to our in-house casino brands. And those of our white-label partners. Safer Gambling is one of the most important aspects of operating an online casino market. And although already very advanced in this area using in-house tools, we are proud to be among the first to adopt and launch innovative technologies.” Mr. Andrew went on to add:
“This ensures that players who show signs of risk via customer interaction receive the best possible advice and practical help.”
Also weighing in on this new initiative was Dr. Michael Auer as Director at Neccton. He stated:
“Academic research is at the core of our work. Over the last ten years we have published more studies than anybody else in the area of player tracking and responsible gaming. We have shown what works and what does not work. And are constantly improving our solution based on academic evidence and best practice.”
SkillOnNet is also known for providing full turnkey Swedish casino software solutions. These white label solutions are geared towards the iGaming industry. The company has developed one of the most successful and popular casino software platforms. It was founded in 2005 and the current portfolio offers more than 1200 different slot and table games.
