Located across the entire Keystone State, there are 12 casino operations with slots, video gaming, and live table games. Some of the facilities are tied to horse tracks such as Penn National and Philadelphia Park. Others are stand-alone casino resorts in the cities of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh along with other metropolitan centers. There are also resort casinos in the Poconos and Western PA.
It appears the recent fortunes of all 12 locations. Also added were total revenue figures for the PA. casino gambling industry as a whole. According to recent year-end figures released this month by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, 2018 casino revenue came in at $3,248,681,277. This reflects a .06 percent increase from 2017’s total revenue of $3,226,910,816. This was the highest revenue figure to date for casino gambling in the state.
Leading the way overall slot machine play. With a gain of more than $32 million against 2017 figures, this helped to offset a 1.34 percent decrease in table games. Total revenue for table games came in at $878,796,174. It was also reported by the Board that total tax revenue for this past year added $1,377,254,368 to the state’s coffers.
The increase in slot revenue in December alone topped out at eight percent verse December 2017. The Board report added that a daily average of 25,442 slot machines was in play. This compared to the 25,849 average slots in play the previous December. The overall real money slot machine revenue for all 12 months was $2,369,885,203. This was the eighth-straight calendar year where slot revenue topped at least $2.3 billion. Last year’s total represents a 1.44 percent gain against 2017 total slots revenue. Tax revenue from slots came in at $1,235,872,531. This figure does not include any possible adjustments from the PA. Department of Revenue.
A large percentage of the tax revenue collected through the state’s casino industry is used for property tax relief. It also goes towards strengthening the state’s horse racing industry. A portion of the funds is also earmarked for economic development.

The biggest casino resort in Pennsylvania is Parx Casino in Bensalem as part of Philadelphia Park race track. This casino ranks first in slots revenue $411.5 million. This reflects a 5.99 increase from the previous year. Parx Casino is second in the state in table games with $191.2 million in revenue. This figure was an increase of 7.27 percent from 2017.
Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh topped out at $281.5 million in slots and $76 million in table games. This reflects an increase of 4.32 percent in slots revenue and 15.57 percent in table games. Rivers Casino ranks second in the state in slots revenue and fourth in table games.
Located north of Philadelphia in Bethlehem, PA., the Sands Casino Resort ranks third in slot machine revenue and first in table games. Slots revenue in 2018 was $299 million, which was a slight 1.16 decline from the previous year. Table game revenue last year slipped to $17.7 million, which was a hefty 16.08 percent drop from 2017.
