Puerto Rico has been known for its rich casino offerings for decades but has lacked a real top-shelf gaming experience. Lately, things have begun to change. Some of the major players in the US casino industry are tapping into this attractive market. This is a particularly attractive market for US-based casinos as it already features a tourism offer that attracts high-end clientele.
The latest power player to invest in this budding gaming market is Foxwoods. The casino giant, operating out of Connecticut, is run and owned by Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. They already have one state-of-the-art gambling establishment, the Foxwoods Resort Casino, located in Ledyard, Connecticut. The Ledyard casino is the biggest hotel and casino complex in all of North America.
Now, the Mashantucket Nation is dipping its toe for the first time in the Carribian gambling market. They have just invested in their first casino in the area. The casino is nestled in the iconic Fairmont El San Juan Resort in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The owners are hoping to capitalize on yet undeveloped offerings in the region and become a magnet for tourists and gamblers traveling from all over the world.
They are the first major casino player to try their luck in Puerto Rico and the operators hope that they will build a successful business for a long time to come. The islanders also hope that this new exclusive facility will provide a significant boost to their economy.
The fully refurbished and renovated property opens its doors for the customers for the first time after five years. Managing director and general manager at Foxwoods El San Juan Casino, Stuart Levene, said that everyone in the company is excited to bring a unique and exclusive gaming experience to the local people and visitors from all four corners of the world. The venue already has a rich history. Foxwoods resort casino hopes to build on this tradition and improve the casinos in San Juan Puerto Rico offering even further.
The new identity of pays homage to the rich history of the place while delivering all the latest technology the casino industry has to offer. Andro Nodarse-Leon, the founder and CEO of LionGrove, the co-owner of the El San Juan Hotel, also commented on the reopening. He said that he’s proud that his company is part of the partnership that will drive the economic development of Puerto Rico with the newly-opened establishment.
At the moment, the casino is open for its customers from 10 a.m to 2 a.m. The plan is, once the Covid pandemic is behind us, to keep the casino open around the clock. The non-stop gaming action will take place on the 15,000 square feet of the Foxwoods resort casino floor. The offerings include the best and the latest slot machines and the most popular table games. The casino and resort will also offer their guests a chance to enjoy themselves in the world-class entertainment venue. Right now, the casino features 300 slot machines and 14 table games.
