Casino operators in the state of Massachusetts are willing to embrace the state’s latest idea to legalize a new form of gambling. MGM Resorts, Wynn Resorts, and Penn National’s operators said this week that they do not see any problem why they should ignore any step that the state is taking towards the legalization of internet Massachusetts casino betting.

Although they have all agreed to support the authority’s bid to introduce internet gaming, before the official announcement that was made by Stephen Crosby, the Gaming Commission chairman, the operators had shown some degree of resistance.

Nonetheless, they later confirmed their support for the new way of gambling saying that it will help in making real money online casino gambling sites a major revenue sector in the state.

According to a latest report from Bay State, the Gaming Commission encountered little opposition from the operators, something that the commission did not expect.

In the past several discussions, operators, particularly Wynn Resorts’ developer have shown intense opposition on any topic that touched internet gambling.

But this week, during one of the meetings organized by the commission and the industry stakeholders, Wynn Resorts, MGM Resorts and Penn National showed little opposition.

On a recent interview with WAMC Radio, Stephen Crosby said that the commission is in the verge of making its recommendations to the state on the necessity of legalizing internet gaming.

Mr. Crosby said that it is the right time to recommend the legalization because there is little opposition or no opposition at all.Massachusetts Casino Is Good For Lottery Within Its State Coffers.

“I’m hoping that before the end of the year. There might be changes in the gaming sector, which will be lauded by all. It is true that MGC does not come up with laws that govern gambling in the state, but we can make the necessary recommendations and the Commonwealth will look at what we’ve suggested,” Crosby said.

Although all the present gaming operators did not show major opposition, they showed some degree of reservations. For instance, MGM Resorts asserted that if the state finally legalizes internet gambling, then the law should only allow it to be offered by land-based gaming facilities that are licensed.

Currently, daily fantasy sports are considered the only form of iGaming that is offered in some resorts across Massachusetts. The game was legalized in March 2016.

More Facilities

While the operators are struggling with the authorities in the legalization of iGaming ‘battlefield’, a lot more is done by the operators.

For instance, MGM Resorts is about to complete the construction of their Springfield casino. The gaming facility, which is estimated to cost $950 million, is likely starting operating in September 2018.

Wynn Resorts on the other hand, are building a property Wynn Boston Harbor, which is worthy a whooping $2 billion in Everett. The facility is scheduled to open its doors to the public on early June 2019.

All these coming developments and those that have already been established is a clear indication that there exists stiff competition even in land-based facilities.
