Las Vegas Bounces Back in a Big Way

As the casino gambling capital of the country, Las Vegas was hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. Last year’s complete shutdown from mid-March to early June had a devastating impact on business. Operating at lower capacity among a number of restrictions hurt business all year long.

How Does Las Vegas Bounces Back Big?

The downturn carried over into 2021. However, results from the recent 4th of July Holiday paint a much brighter picture. Along with full capacity at casino floors, entertainment has returned to Sin City. The graceful performers at Cirque du Soleil’s O recently returned to the stage. This was their first performance in 16 months.

The iconic show at the Bellagio on the Las Vegas Strip drew huge crowds.

This led to more than a few standing ovations from the appreciative audience.

The entire week leading up to summer’s biggest holiday was busy in Las Vegas. This includes the famous Strip to the downtown area on Fremont Street. It appears that Las Vegas is back and possibly better than ever.

Resorts World Las Vegas made its debut on June 24 to large crowds. This is the first new casino to open on the Las Vegas Strip since 2010. The Hilton Hotel at Resorts World offers more than 3,500 rooms. Players were excited about the large selection of games ranging from slot machines to Heads Up Holdem.

Caesars Place was back in business with its famous $75 Bacchanal Buffet. The demand is so high that reservations are booked for the next month.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority released some figures for May. Total visitors for the month totaled close to 2.9 million. This reflects an 11% increase from the previous month. However, it is still down 22% from May, 2019.

May set a single-month record with Clark County casinos

None the less, that was the smallest decline verse 2019 numbers this year, which is another great sign. The good news is that Las Vegas gamblers are making up for lost time. May set a single-month record with Clark County casinos. Their combined win topped $1 billion dollars.

Going back to last June when the casinos were first allowed to reopen, the numbers were grim. Total attendance was down 70% for June of 2019. The numbers slowly improved over the rest of the year. Yet, declines carried over into 2021.

Las Vegas appears to be back heading into the crucial summer months. Now that the restrictions have been fully lifted, the crowds are expected to swell. Actual results from the recent holiday weekend will tell the tale.

The biggest plus is the entertainment aspect that had been missing. Many visitors to Las Vegas are not there to gamble at casinos. Now that everything is open at full capacity, the overall attraction of Las Vegas is back as well.

Resorts World is the perfect example. It was estimated that more than 20,000 people were in attendance for the grand opening. Bigger has always been better in Las Vegas and this new Genting Group venue proves the point.

The early reviews have been mainly positive. This includes the expansive casino floor to all the other amenities this new casino resort has to offer.
