Legal MA Sports Betting Bill Approved By Massachusetts Senate?
Massachusetts will likely become the 31st state with legalized wagering. On Thursday, the State Senate voted to approve the sports betting bill proposed by Senator Eric P. Lesser. The bill would allow all the adults aged 21 and over to place sports bets at land-based MA casinos and on online apps.
The Massachusetts House also passed the wagering bill last year, although with slightly different provisions than the one approved by the Senate. Governor Charlie Baker has already announced his intention to sign the bill into law if the Senate and the House manage to reconcile their differences.
The MA sports betting legalization, if finalized, would be very beneficial to the state. It’s estimated that Massachusetts would rake in between $35 and $65 million in tax revenue every year.
