The Los Angeles Clippers (0-2) have started the season slowly, losing their first two games. Monday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers will be a good opportunity for them to end their mini skid at home.
The Clippers are -2 home favorites in Monday’s game, having gone 6-4 ATS in their last 10 games against the Trail Blazers. The OVER is 2-0 in Portland’s two contests this season, with a total of 234.5 points at BetOnline Sportsbook.
CJ McCollum has had a good start to the season. He is averaging 31 points in the first two games. Damian Lillard was Portland’s top scorer last year but he hasn’t done as well this year, which is why CJ is doing better. Even with Lillard hampered, the Trail Blazers have put up 127.5 points per game, which is second in the NBA.
Both Norman Powell (knee) and Tony Snell (foot) are out for Monday’s game on the injury front.
The burden in Los Angeles now falls mostly on Paul George, who is 6’8″ and plays forward. Through two games, the six-foot-eight forward has scored 35 points and 10.5 rebounds while averaging 41 points in the Clippers’ defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
The Clippers are one of just four teams without a victory this season. It’s far from time to panic yet, but they’ll need more offensive support around George if they want to start winning games.
If McCollum and Lillard are sinking shots, it will be hard for the other team to win. Portland beat Phoenix so now they have more confidence.
The Clippers are 0-2. They lost to the Warriors and Grizzlies. The Portland Trailblazers are an easy opponent, so they could win if they get help from George Hill and Eric Bledsoe.
