The Los Angeles Clippers (5-4, 5-4 ATS) have recovered from a slow start to win four of their past five games. The Portland Trail Blazers (5-5, 4-6 ATS), who enter the game on a two-game winning run, will visit them.
The Trail Blazers are 3-point underdogs at BetOnline Sportsbook in their home game against the Clippers. The over/under is set at 222.5 points, with the UNDER going 7-1 in Portland’s past eight games. The Trail Blazers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight meetings with the Clippers.
The Trail Blazers enter Tuesday’s game on a two-game winning streak, having beaten the Los Angeles Lakers 105-90 last weekend. Damian Lillard put up 25 points, six assists, and three rebounds in Saturday’s victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.Jusuf Nurkic had 15 points and 17 rebounds of his own in the Nuggets’ 119-100 victory over the Lakers. Los Angeles scored just 90 points, its worst offensive output this season without LeBron James.
The Trail Blazers are looking to extend their winning streak to nine games. Lillard (18.5 points) and Norman Powell (17.4 points) have both been important offensive contributors for the team this season, while CJ McCollum (22.1 points) has led the team in scoring by a wide margin.
The Los Angeles Clippers have rebounded from a 1-4 start with four consecutive victories to improve their record to 9-8. On Sunday, the Clippers demolished the Charlotte Hornets 120-106 as Paul George scored 20 points while assisting on eight others and pulling down nine rebounds. In the Lakers’ win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night, six players scored 14 points or more, providing some much-needed assistance for George who has carried most of the burden in this early season.
George is the leader of the Clippers in many ways. He averages 27 points, 8.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 2.7 steals per game without Kawhi Leonard on the team who is out with knee surgery. George needs to do more now that he doesn’t have help from Leonard for now.
Lillard and McCollum combined have scored 110.3 points per game, good for eighth in the NBA. They will be facing a strong Clippers defense that has given up 102.56 points per game so far this season, but if Lillard and McCollum each score 25 or more points they might be able to cover the spread and win
The Clippers look better when they get production from their five players. If Reggie Jackson, Luke Kennard, and company can keep scoring like they did on Sunday, Los Angeles should cruise to its fifth straight win.
