When Will Scientific Games Bring Back The Willy Wonka Golden Ticket Contest?
A company press release dated Nov. 9 announced plans for the next installment. One of the new features is the Everlasting Million second chance promotion. This valuable add-on gives players a chance to win $1 million a year for life.
The initial Willy Wonka Golden Ticket instant game was a record breaker. It was able to double the sales of any previous US linked instant lottery game. This next installment could raise that lofty bar even higher with the added second chance offer.
The contest is tied to an extremely popular story. It was created in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
The first run three years ago was incredibly successful. Kyle Rogers is the Scientific Games’ VP of North American Games. He released the following statement cover that initial lottery contest.
“Willy Wonka Golden Ticket is inspired by one of the most beloved films of all time. And in the lottery industry it is especially known for the record-breaking linked instant game. That lit up US lottery retail sales in 2017-18 with over $1 billion in lottery tickets printed over the course of our first offering.”
The Colorado Lottery got things started this time around with early ticket sales in September. The $10 price tag for this new contest gives players even more ways to win. Tom Seaver is the Director of the Colorado Lottery. His thoughts on the new contest included:
“We were pleased with how well the first game performed, indexing at 155 over the first 15 weeks. And we are thrilled to be the first lottery to kick off the newest Willy Wonka Golden Ticket game. Our players like fun, excitement and value. The Willie Wonka brand delivers the fun and excitement. While the Everlasting Million Second Chance opportunity delivers the added value in the form of a chance to win a lifetime prize of $1 million.”
Also part of the second chance portion is a trip. The Everlasting Million Challenge will take place in the summer of 2022 in Las Vegas.
Contest qualifiers will compete in three rounds of games themed as:
The Golden Egg
Everlasting Gobstopper
Golden Ticket
Every trip winner will be awarded a cash prize from $1000 up to the $1 million for life grand prize. There will also be a minimum of 20 instant trips awarded as part of the second chance opportunity. During the first run more than 200 winners made the trip to Las Vegas.
Additional lottery ticket sales for this new contest will begin in early 2021 across the entire US.
