Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati will start full operation later this month and one of the local legends will be there to help them celebrate. The casino will officially open its doors for business on October 29. Pete Rose, former Cincinnati Reds player and manager, will be a part of the ceremony.
Cincinnati’s Baseball Legend to Place the First Bet
The former MVP is known for his on-field excellence but also his off-the-field issues. Rose had gambling issues in the past and has been accused of betting on baseball games including his own team. These accusations eventually led to his permanent baseball ineligibility. In addition, he never got inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Lately, the legendary switch hitter has been embracing his embattled past. Among other things, he will be the one to make the inaugural bet at Cincinnati’s casino launch. As a part of celebrations to mark the grand opening, Rose, who’s now 80, will place the first bet. The festivities will also include several other high-profile events. The first live performance at the new casino will be held by legendary Earth, Wind & Fire.
Of course, before these events, the locals will have a chance to witness the traditional guitar smash. It will be performed by members of the Seminole Tribe and several celebrities as is the case at every opening of the Hard Rock casinos. Pete Roses should also autograph the official Hard Rock Casino guitar.
The president of the casino, George Goldhoff, released a statement saying that he’s sure that the opening festivities will be a big hit. He added that he’s happy that sports and music icons will be there to celebrate the big launch with the casino guests.
Phased-In Reopening Process
The Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati will replace the former Jack Casino which operated at the same location, Hard Rock International bought the former gambling establishment in 2019. Since the purchase, the new owners invested in many renovations and new additions to the casino offer.
The process of reopening included several different stages. Over the last few months, several new restaurants and retail shops have already opened. Hard Rock Cafe opened its doors in July while The Rock Shop has been working since April. Several other establishments will be added in time for the grand opening. The premium dining facility, Council Oak Steaks & Seafood, will open on October 25. The new casino will feature 3,000 square feet of dining and meeting space, 84 tables, and 1,628 slot machines. There are also plans for a new hotel but they have so far been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic,
Pete Rose Embracing his Gambling Past
After receiving a lifetime base from baseball, Pete Rose has been spending a lot of time in Vegas getting involved in the gaming industry. Besides agreeing to appear at Cincinnati’s casino opening, the all-time MLB hit leader is also launching a new betting podcast. In cooperation with Quake Media, Rose will discuss various sports and betting themes six days a week. The title of the new podcast is Pete Rose’s Daily Picks.
