A recent news story out of Spokane, Washington covered the death of a 46-year old woman. This was just two days removed from winning a large jackpot at a local casino. The report did not mention how much money she won. However, it appears that foul play was involved in her demise. How does this Washington State Casino Jackpot Winner die a suspicious death?
The local casino where she won the money was Northern Quest Casino. That night she called her mom with the news This was on Feb. 15. Her phone ran out of charge during that call so her mom was unable to get any further details.
Just two days later, the woman was found dead in her apartment. She was identified as Jenny A. Jones. She was found lying on the floor of her apartment by Albert Asher on Feb. 17. He was identified as her step-father. Jenny’s mom sent Albert to check on her after calls to her phone went unanswered. The body was discovered at 11 a.m. on that day.
Jenny’s mom was identified as Sue Asher according to official court documents.
Police on the scene found blood on the victim’s face. There was more blood on her shirt that appeared to come from a different wound. Police also located a small knife next to the victim’s body. This led them to declare the death suspicious by nature. The official police record stated, “this could be something other than a natural death.”
After interviewing other tenants at Jenny’s apartment complex, issues with a man were revealed. One of the tenants interviewed was identified as Ethan McCracken. He told police that Jenny mentioned these issues earlier in February. She went as far to say that she might have to call the police to intervene.
The man apparently refused to leave her apartment on more than one occasion. She said she might have to call the police but that call was never placed. An unidentified tenant recalled hearing the voice of a man. They also mentioned that it appeared as if he was talking to himself at the time.
Another tenant of the apartment complex interviewed by police was Allison Oliver. She confirmed that the victim complained to her about the same man. As part of an ongoing investigation, a search warrant was issued for the victim’s apartment.
The apartment complex’s manager also confirmed the issues with the unidentified man. As part of the court documents on the case, Jenny revealed the jackpot win. She also mentioned her problems with this man during a conversation with the manager.
A local news reporter in Spokane interviewed the victim’s mother. Ms. Asher does not think that anyone caused her daughter harm. She also mentioned a life-long medical condition that could have played a role in her death.
The timeline between the casino win and her ultimate death has not been revealed. It is still not clear how long she had been dead before her body was discovered.
