Booming Games has introduced a new female adventurer in the Gonzo mechanic genre, called Kim’s Wild Journey. The game has some visual similarities to Gonzo’s Quest, but instead of blocking the entrance to El Dorado, stone tiles block the view of the valley/mountain.
The base game’s cascading wins multiplier trail has been replaced by a Wild Level system that can give you up to 3 randomly placed wilds. The random Wilds and Level system has a multiplier system in the bonus round that you’ll need to get close to the game’s 15,846x potential.
Kim’s Wild Journey Slot Features
For 5 matching premium symbols, known as Majors, you can win between 2.5 and 12.5 times bonus amount of your original bet. The Wild symbol can be used as a substitute for any paying symbol, making it easier to create winning combinations. When you win, Cascading Reels removes the winning symbols and triggers the Wild Level increase feature.
Each time you win, the symbols that helped you win explode and are replaced by new symbols. Review Summary
Although the game’s cinematographic intro sets a dramatic tone, the rest of Kim’s Wild Journey falls short. The stone blocks lack realism and appear to be made of Papier-mâché rather than dense material. Additionally, the gravity setting is not consistent, causing the blocks to fall at either a slow or fast pace depending on whether a turbo or double-click is applied. This inconsistency negatively affects the overall gameplay experience.
Despite trying to replace the well-known multiplier trail system with wild levels, the promised “wild journey” did not quite materialize. It could have been better if more wilds, rather than just 3, were available. The maximum payout for a single spin without multipliers is 312.5x your stake, and the 15,846x potential can only be reached with the multiplier wilds in the bonus round. However, this still seems unlikely, and leveling up did not occur frequently. Booming should be commended for their efforts, but the game falls short upon closer examination.
