First published in late October of last year, it was reported that new name would simply be the Strat. In a more recent development, the parent company unveiled the full property name on Feb. 1 at The Strat Hotel, Casino and Skypod. The top three floors of the casino along with the rides and entertainment venues will encompass the area referred to as SkyPod.

Interestingly, the initial report indicates folks don’t recognize the Stratosphere as being part of the Las Vegas Strip. Furthermore, you can find the Stratosphere at the far northern end of this designation. However, a vital part of this rebranding designs to help bring the casino into the fold with the more popular destinations on the Strip to the south. The property was first opened in 1996 as Bob Stupak’s Vegas World Casino and Stratosphere.

Indeed, the hotel portion of the resort contains 2,427 total rooms. Furthermore, the Strat upgrades the accommodations over the years. The biggest ongoing renovation at the property right now is the property’s racebook and sportsbook. The casino floor offers a wide assortment of slot machines, a separate poker room and gaming area complete with Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and Pai Gow Poker tables. Also, the casino ties in with the ACE Play rewards card.

Most importantly, the thrill rides at the top of the tower are one of the property’s top attractions. Moreover, Sky Jump plunges patrons 829 feet from the tower as the most thrilling ride.
