Last week, one lucky gambler has proven that you don’t have to go to Vegas to win a life-changing amount of money. He scored a massive jackpot while gambling at one of the casinos located at the Mississippi Gulf Coast. See which MS Coastal Casinos slot machine pays out a $642,000 jackpot to a very lucky gambler.
A Georgia Man Wins Nearly $650,000 at the Coastal Casino
The guest in question visited from neighboring Géorgie and decided to try his luck at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. Little did he know that after only 7 minutes of play, he’ll score one of the biggest jackpots ever handed out at this casino. The lucky visitor left the Mississippi Coast with an extra $642,000 in his pocket just in time to celebrate Christmas as a rich man.
According to the casino representatives, the game that brought luck to the man from Georgia was a 25-cent Wheel of Fortune progressive slot machine. The regional PR director for MGM Resorts International and the Beau Rivage, Mary Cracchiolo Spain, added that the lucky winner hit big only four days before Christmas, on December 21. He started playing at 10:40 a.m. and the machine delivered the jackpot only seven minutes later, 10:47 a.m. The player who nailed this fantastic prize wished to remain anonymous.
Golden Nugget Pays Out a Quarter of a Million Dollar Jackpot
This wasn’t the only big win at the coastal casinos this holiday season. Another anonymous player took home a hefty Christmas bonus, this time at Golden Nugget Casino Biloxi. The game of choice for the fortunate casino visitor was the Top Dollar machine. According to the general manager of the casino, Chett Harrison, the player didn’t trigger the progressive jackpot but still won a whopping $250,000. It all happened a day prior to Christmas, on December 23. The winner is a local, residing at the Gulf Coast.
Great Year for Gulf Coast Casinos
After struggling in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns, casinos along the Gulf Coast had an excellent 2021, breaking some historical records. Twelve coastal casinos had total revenue of $1.47 billion through November in 2021. That alone easily tops the $1.08 billion revenue for the whole of 2020. With December numbers still to be announced, it’s clear that casino operators on the Gulf Coast have plenty of reasons to be happy.
Rock Casino Hotel, Palace, IP and Golden Nugget in Biloxi, and Scarlet Pearl in D’Iberville
The number of visitors is also on the rise. For example, in June this year, 1.2 million people swarmed the coastal casinos. Compared to only 947,000 in June 2020, the progress is more than clear. According to a recent report, five casinos topped the area in the number of visitors. Those five are Hard Rock Casino Hotel, Palace, IP and Golden Nugget in Biloxi, and Scarlet Pearl in D’Iberville.
Casino owners attribute such success to the fact that they have taken the Covid-19 pandemic seriously and managed to adjust their operations on the fly. At the moment, plastic dividers between the slot machines are down, but they are safely stored and ready for use should the situation call for it. Some casinos also provided financial incentives to their employees to get vaccinated. All of this contributed to the record year along the coast.
