Gambling, in its various forms, has a history that is thought to date back to ancient times. While there is no way to accurately pinpoint the exact date as to when the first gaming experience occurred, we can say with much confidence that our ancestors are likely to have enjoyed a game or two in their day. The first know real money gaming locations were located in Europe and were highly sought out by rich aristocrats during the 16th century. At that time, the casinos were more like private elite clubs with a high-class guest list. While gambling was technically illegal at that time, participants at these high-class clubs were able to work their way around the law. Gambling was not limited to the elite. However, it was not conducted as formally for those who were not amongst the higher class.
In the early years of the United States, betting was common in the countries frontier. Frontiersman was adventurous, skillful and willing to take chances in life which made gaming a welcomed pastime in the new land. It was not until the 1800’s that gambling came under greater scrutiny in The United States by those that question its morality. It was at that time that gambling became illegal in the United States. In the 1930’s gambling became legal in the United States. The legalization took place when the state of Nevada opened its first casinos. After that, Nevada saw gambling as a means to improve their economy. This happens after the Great Depression.
People know Nevada worldwide for its casinos, made a great decision to take a chance and legalize gambling. Much of the revenue that the state accrues in Nevada links to their gaming industry.
