The month a May opened with a tragic shooting near a Green Bay tribal casino on Saturday night. The death toll reached three including the shooting suspect. The actual shooting took place at the Duck Creek Kitchen & Bar according to news sources close to PlaySlots4RealMoney.com. This restaurant is part of the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center. This is located in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin just outside of Green Bay.
May 1 Shooting Takes Place Near Green Bay Casino
The gunman was targeting a particular person. However, that person was not at that location when the casino shooting took place. Lt. Kevin Pawlak is a member of the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. He released these and other statements at the crime scene.
The suspect opened fire on two coworkers and killed them both. Officers on the scene then shot and killed the suspect. A third person that was shot by the gunman was “seriously injured”. They were taken to a Milwaukee hospital for treatment.
This hotel is connected to the Oneida Casino. This tribal casino is owned and operated by the Oneida Nation. Melinda Danforth is the director of intergovernmental affairs for the tribe. She stated that as many as seven or eight people may have been hit by gunfire. However, she did not know the exact number of casualties.
The local NBC news affiliate released the following tweet on Saturday night:
#BREAKING: Police are responding to the Oneida Casino on Airport Drive for an “active situation.” This is a developing story. Active shooter situation at Oneida Casino; authorities have secured scene. Police responded to Oneida Casino on Saturday night.”
This was posted at 8:57 p.m. local time.
Police on the scene cleared everyone out of the hotel rooms once the gunfire broke out. This was done as a standard safety precaution.
Danforth added that “crowd control is an issue for us because people are trying to see what’s happening.”
The Oneida reservation is situated to the west of the general Green Bay area. Earlier in the night, the casino did tweet that it was contending with “an active shooter situation.” It also mentioned that there were several law enforcement agencies at the scene of the crime.
Close to 10 p.m. that same night, Attorney General Josh Kaul tweeted that the crime scene was contained. Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers used his Facebook account to comment on the situation. He stated that himself and his wife Kathy,
“Were devastated to hear about the shooting at the Oneida Casino complex tonight. Our hearts, thoughts and support go out to the Oneida Nation, the Ashwaubenon and Green Bay communities and all those affected by this strategy.”
Multiple news reports confirmed the three fatalities including the shooting suspect. They also confirmed that this was a targeted attack. It remains unclear why the gunman shot the two restaurant workers that were killed or the third victim. He was targeting a particular person that was not at the Cena do crime. It has been suggested that he thought they were friends of his intended target.
